We’ve written a few months ago about the Kempler Strauss W Watchphone, a 200$ timepiece that’s worth buying because of it’s cheap price, simple design and good features compared to the much more expensive LG GD910. As it turned out Kempler Strauss is nearing shipping time for the W PhoneWatch and it presented at CES 2010 a working prototype that was handled by Wired.

The phone menu
They loved the simple menu that offers access to the main functionality of the phone (calls, messages, contacts and calendar) and the fact that while not in use as a phone it displays the date and time on the 1.5 inch LCD screen. A 1.4 megapixel camera can take still and moving clips so you also have basic multimedia functionality. They didn’t like the lack of 3G connectivity but I’m pretty sure you could live without it as it’s almost impossible to browse the Internet on a 1.5 inch screen (I know as I hated the 2 inches of my Nokia E51 phone).
Wired coudn’t photograph the bluetooth headset/remote that was initially said to ship with Kempler Strauss W PhoneWatch but I hope its still there in the 200$ package of one of the pretties watch cell phones around.
